Fifth Grade Summer Reading List
Choose one book from each subject to read over the summer. You will be required to take an AR test on each of the three books you read in addition to the assignment below the titles.
Reading: Philip Hall Likes Me, I Recknon Maybe by Bette Greene, or
School Story by Andrew Clements
Assignment: You may complete a book review on our blog (http://dunbar.mcm.schoolinsites.com/) or turn in a reading response journal with at least 15 entries due the first day of school
Social Studies: Pilgrims: A Nonfiction Companion to Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne, or
The Arrow Over the Door by Joseph Bruchac
Assignment: Find one newspaper article or website and write three paragraphs relating the content of the book with the newspaper article or website.
Science: Cal and the Amazing Anti-Gravity Machine by Richard Hamilton, or
Egg Drop Blues by Jacqueline Turner Banks
Assignment: Write three paragraphs relating the content of the book to science.
