Seventh Grade Summer Reading List

Choose one book from each subject to read over the summer.  You will be required to take an AR test on each of the three books you read in addition to the assignment below the titles.

Language Arts:  Double Dutch by Sharon Draper, or

                             The Giver by Lois Lowry

Assignment:  You may complete a book review on our blog (http://dunbar.mcm.schoolinsites.com/) or turn in a reading response journal with at least 25 entries due the first day of school.

Social Studies:  John Hancock:  Signer for Independence by Barbara Somervill, or

                       George Washington:  The Man Who Would Not Be King by Stephen Krensky

Assignment:  Find one newspaper article or website and write an essay relating the content of the book with the newspaper article or website.

Science:  A Face First by Priscilla Cummings, or

              Germ Hunter:  A Story About Louis Pasteur by Elaine Alphin

Assignment:  Write an essay relating the content of the book to science.
