Dunbar Magnet Uniform Policy for 2009-2010

This uniform policy is non-negotiable and will be strictly enforced.  Parents are responsible for student attire.  Please do not purchase or allow your child to wear out of uniform attire to school as demerits will be issued for each offense.  Parents will be called to bring proper uniform attire before the out-of-uniform student can enter the classroom.  Zeros may be assigned if student misses class for uniform violation.  Out of uniform jackets will be taken from student and returned to parent only.

Both Boys and Girls:

White or Red Polo Shirt, loose fitting, two buttons buttoned, no cleavage, tucked in at all times

Navy Blue uniform pants, waist line to be at waist, loose fitting, with belt loops, no sagging

Navy Blue uniform shorts, knee length, waist at waist line, loose fitting, with belt loops

Solid navy, red, or black belt, plain buckle, no oversized

White or gold undershirt, no other colors will be allowed, no long sleeves under short sleeves

Solid white or black socks, crew or ankle socks, must be visible

Solid black leather tennis shoes, no high-tops, no canvas, no colors, no exceptions

No beads, no bangles, no excessive jewelry.   Earrings may be worn but must be conservative.  They must not be bigger than a quarter in length or diameter.  No facial piercings.

Red Dunbar sweatshirts or solid red sweatshirt with NO hood may be worn in class

Red Dunbar t-shirt or performing arts group shirts may be worn on Fridays.  Red Dunbar t-shirt preferred for field trips

Navy Dunbar jacket or navy button or zip jacket or button up sweater may be worn in class.  Hoods must be removed in class.  No pullover sweaters or sweatshirts with hoods.

All non-uniform jackets must be removed and placed in locker prior to homeroom.  NO out-of-uniform jackets will be allowed in classrooms. 

Hair color and/or highlights must be natural hair colors (NO pink, blue, green, orange, etc.)

Girls only:

Navy or Dunbar plaid skirts, no a-line (fitted), must not be shorter than 4 inches in front or back when measured kneeling.  Shorts must be worn under skirts at all times.  No skorts.

Solid white or navy tights, with feet, may be worn.  No leggings.

**Dunbar jackets, sweatshirts, and t-shirts will be sold during registration
